Riviera English School was established in 1996 and is an independent, family-owned school.

Most of our students come to us through personal recommendation from others who have studied here. Many students come back to attend our courses year after year.We are open all year, except for Christmas and New Year. The maximum class size is 12 in the adult school, and 15 in the junior centre - but the adult average is much fewer, especially in the winter, when typically class numbers will be between 4-8 students. There are four full-time office staff and a varying number of teachers, depending on the time of year.

The classrooms are well-equipped, with whiteboards, tape recorders and tv/dvd/video. We have a drinks machine and private courtyard for coffee breaks. There is a computer room with free internet access plus Free Wifi access in the building.

Riviera English School has a growing reputation for offering excellent standards of tuition at reasonable prices. The school is superbly located, with views over the harbour and bay - in fact it is Torquay's best business address. It is just a 50-metre walk from the main shopping street and Torquay harbour, close to restaurants, beaches and the night life of the town. Riviera English School is a small school with small class sizes, but even so, we have had students from over 30 different countries. There is a pleasant, friendly atmosphere and visitors will always get a warm welcome.

The Summer Centre (Morgan Ave, Torquay)

During the summer, we also have a Junior Centre for the Summer Course for Juniors and Teenagers. Centrally located with games room, gardens and a hall for bad weather days. Shops, and cafes are on the doorstep. At peak times, we may also use the Ministay centre, which is just 5 minutes on foot from the Junior Centre.

Our new Ministay Centre (74 Abbey Rd)

For school groups, or groups with specific requirements, we have a new ministay centre. It is situated close to the town centre, with gardens to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine during breaktimes. Just a short walk to the main beach.
