Why
not take the opportunity to do some sailing while you are studying
with us? This offer is only available to those studying at Riviera
English School, the only English Language school in the UK that owns
a sailing yacht.
Whenever possible, sailing will be done aboard Riviera English
School's yacht, a 2004 Bavaria 41 (12.55 metre). The boat
is modern, spacious, capable of reaching good speeds and can
sleep 8 people comfortably. Our region is considered to be
the best sailing area in the country.
The
yacht is fully coded for charter, and possesses all necessary
certification, insurance and safety equipment. She is skippered
by a commercially endorsed sailor. When on board, you can
do as little or as much as you wish. Our skipper loves it
when the crew take control and do all the hard work! No previous
experience required, and all safety equipment is provided.

Course acceptance will depend on your previous experience -
no previous experience is necessary for the competant crew course.
Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster are all at or above
the level required for the ICC (International Certificate of
Competance) certification.
Courses are Sunday eve - Friday eve, staying on the yacht, starting
and finishing in Torquay. Prices include all meals, fuel &
fees. Waterproof clothing loan available on request. You will
visit some fantastic harbours and anchorages during these courses.
There
is a minimum 2 week English language course before a full time
sailing course.
Alternatively,
there is also the possibility of doing a short sailing course
which can give you a RYA certificate which is recognised in
many countries. These courses will be done on a Colgate 26 sail
training boat, and can be done at the same time as an English
course; English lessons in the mornings, sailing in the afternoons.
